Below are 3 of my beliefs of Creativity
#1: Creativity is using your thoughts and quirks to your advantage.
#2: Creativity doesn't come with ease.
#3: Being creative means tapping into your senses.
1: Use your imagination!
When creating something, whether it be a sculpture, a book, or even a doodle, use your what you tend to think about most often. For me I think about horror and horror stories all day. This allows me to think of and create more suspenseful and skull numbing horror stories. I have wrote several first drafts of horror stories but this particular one I am most proud of.
I started to dial my roommate’s number when I felt a sharp crack over the back of my head and I tumbled off of the table. My nose splintered when I smashed it on the pavement. The last thing I remember seeing before my vision went black was the blurry outline of a figure in all black wearing a mask, holding what looked like a pipe in his right hand, grabbing with my leg his his left. |
2: Don't think it's easy.
When it comes to being creative, a lot of people think it's easy. They think that slapping a few words on a page or splattering some paint on a canvas is being creative. It's not. Creativity takes time and talent. When writing a story, instead of just taking someones idea, changing some names, locations, and events and calling it your own, try taking a couple of hours and jot down some original ideas. Then pick your favorite idea and go from there. Creativity doesn't come from your brain, it comes from the heart and the soul.

3: Use your senses and surroundings I think that in order to be creative, you need to use your senses along with your surroundings. Listen the the area around you and create what the sound makes you think of. Look at an object in your home and create something out of it. Smell the air around you and write a story about the smell. The possibilities are endless.
